Summary

The Canadian Mutual Recognition Agreement on the Sale of Goods (CMRA) reduces barriers to the sale of goods across Canada by ensuring that a product that may be lawfully sold in one province or territory may be sold across Canada without having to meet further requirements – unless a government has identified a specific rule that still applies. Section K(4) of the CMRA provides that each Party is to develop tools to implement the agreement.

Description

A mutual recognition agreement (MRA) for goods enable goods approved for sale or use in one province to be sold or used in another. Notably, food has been stripped out from within scope of the agreement. All provinces to implement by June 30, 2026.
