Implemented
Food
Completed: Jan 15, 2019
Launch Date: No date set

Summary

There are different requirements for quality and grade inspections for certain fresh fruits and vegetables, depending on province of origin and destination. Apples, potatoes (for grade) and blueberries (phytosanitary) from some provinces must be inspected prior to interprovincial trade.

Description

Introduced via the 2018 RCT Work Plan. RCT Reconciliation Agreement dated June 15, 2018. The coming into force of the federal Safe Food for Canadians Act (Jan 15, 2019) and its regulations effectively eliminated the inspection requirements for apples, blueberries and potatoes.
