Community Guidelines & Privacy Notice

Community Guidelines

Our aim: A welcoming, safe, non-partisan place for builders.

  1. Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, discrimination, hate speech, or intimidation. We welcome participation regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, race/ethnicity, religion, or national origin.
  2. Keep it safe. Follow the law and venue rules for Build Canada events. If alcohol is served, use it responsibly and only if of legal age.
  3. Stay non-partisan and civil. We don’t endorse political parties or candidates. Debate ideas, not people. No campaigning at our events or in our channels.
  4. Speak for yourself. Unless we’ve said otherwise in writing, our members and volunteers don’t speak on behalf of Build Canada and shouldn’t use our logo or imply endorsement.
  5. Don’t lobby. Build Canada doesn’t lobby. This means that members of our community should not, in Build Canada’s name:
    a. initiate communications with provincial or federal public office holders to influence laws, regulations, policies/programs, or decisions about grants, contributions, other financial benefits, or contracts;
    b. arrange meetings between public office holders and third parties;
    c. run campaigns asking the public to contact federal officials; or
    d. coordinate Build Canada–branded outreach to Designated Public Office Holders (e.g., cabinet ministers, MPs, ministerial staff, deputy ministers).
  6. No spam or solicitation. Don’t use member lists or our spaces for unsolicited pitches, fundraising, or recruiting without approval.
  7. Privacy basics. We collect only what’s needed to run the community (e.g., RSVPs). See our Privacy Notice or email [email protected] with questions.
  8. Accessibility. Need an accommodation? Tell us at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to make it work.
  9. Reporting. If something feels off, talk to an organizer, email [email protected].

Enforcement: We may issue a warning or ask someone to leave an event/community space if these guidelines aren’t followed.

By joining or attending, you agree to these guidelines. We may update this page; the latest version applies.
